Jush...What is it?

Now some of you might have heard me throw the word jush out in our conversations one too many times. It's a term not used very commonly in general so I understand all the wonky confused looks I get on a general basis. I haven't reached a point of frustration in defining the word jush to people who question its existence and I enjoy the word so much, I've decided to address this jush now (HAHA) and forever hold my peace on the subject matter :)

WHERE DO I BEGIN? Well, for starters, or appetizers even, jush can be considered an all-encompassing replacement word not only for nouns but also adjectives. I generally tend to use it in my greetings or when I'm commenting on a situation or news. For example, I might greet some of my closer friends as jush by saying, " Hey there jush" or if something great happens in the moment, I would blurt out, "JUSH" for a prolonged period of time while nodding my head. It's important to note that it should only be associated with the positive people in your life and good/happy/wonky/delightfully awkward scenarios. You can choose not to follow this, of course, but as someone who's determined to spread the word of jush, I'm hoping it's more a positive experience on both ends, so I as well as the jush-word-using-community would greatly appreciate your consideration! Since I've pretty much talked about what jush is and how it might be integrated into your daily life, I should definitely talk about how I came to know the term, in the first place. Like many of the weird new things/habits I've developed since coming to college, the credits for this particular linguistic evolution goes to my very dear jish-jush of a friend, Kris Apellido. Not only is he a fellow dragon, but he's also been my partner-in-crime since orientation day. Our friendship can be characterized by my favorite gif below as we usually can't stop laughing when we're together. It's both a blessing and a curse (think lectures).

Anyways, my queen of friend here threw the word out one day, and it warranted this:

NATURALLY :) That's when I learned that the word came from Jasmine McMasters, one of the queens from RuPaul's Drag Race (GREAT SHOW: shameless plug for my friends who watch it religiously). I've also included a video below with her definition and explanation of the term jush.

Initially, I never really intended to incorporate it so greatly into my speech, but then again, when you're around someone who's in all the same classes, just happens to be one of your closest friends, and is a queen for RuPaul's Drag Race, you really can't help it.

If you've stumbled upon this blog post or this website in general, it's likely that you're a close friend or just a human that I consider dear to my life. Now that I've spread the word of jush to you, I can only only hope that somewhere along the way, you will too! As for those who disagree with my use of the word or jush even, you can sashay away and hope you won't cross paths with me because believe me, I will throw some siggening shade at you henny.
